THE AVENGERS - MUST SEE TV

The Avengers (1961-69) was a quirky crime-drama TV show. Appearing on ITV and ABC, the Avengers was the adventures of two characters, The suave male agent and the predominately female partners.

John Steed works for the British Intelligence and works with many different partners. The TV show tackles the feminism problem of that era, with the partner always being female. The cast had big stars like Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg.

The ratings on IMDb was a strong 8.4 and many reviews said that the show was full of action and intrigue.

CUFFS

Cuffs is a BBC drama that was shown in 2015, it only had one series as the BBC closed it down. Usually appearing on the BBC at 8 p.m, Cuffs was a crime drama based in Brighton to show the diversity in Brighton. The show represents different types of people and different ethnic groups and the reality of their lives. There are a wide spread of social groups, such as your average policeman on the beat and to drug addicts.

Cuffs was shown before 9 p.m this is described as before watershed. Many people criticised the show because of this. As it acknowledged these problems and showed quite distressing scenes, many members of the public felt that it should've been shown after the watershed. However, the violence is not directly shown, they do not glorify self-harming.

The IMDb rating of the show was 7.6/10. Many people criticised the BBC when they took it off air. The cast was very disappointed when the show was cancelled and Amanda Abbington made the first tweet announcing the sad news.

The TV show was very well received by the public. So much that when the public found that its was going to be shut down they had a public petition in order to get it on the air again, however such attempts were a failure
